SMS Opt-In & Consent
Last updated: August 6, 2026
About this page
Clara is an AI assistant delivered entirely over SMS, operated by David Joyce. This page documents exactly how end users consent to receive text messages from Clara: every opt-in path we use, the exact disclosures and messages involved, and how to opt out. It is publicly accessible and requires no login.
Two kinds of messages
Conversational messages. Clara is used by texting her, so registering inherently involves user-initiated messages: a one-time verification code and conversational replies to texts the user sends first. These are never sent unprompted.
Optional proactive messages. Separately, users may opt in to texts Clara sends first — a daily morning briefing, task and appointment reminders, and occasional important alerts. Typically 1–3 messages per day; message frequency varies. This opt-in is entirely optional and is never a condition of using Clara or of any purchase.
Opt-in method 1: web registration form
Users sign up at clara.a3v01d.com/register (publicly accessible, no login required) by entering their phone number. The form displays this disclosure before submission:
“We'll text you a one-time code to verify your number. After that, Clara only texts you when you text her first. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to unsubscribe.”
Consent to proactive messages is collected by a separate, optional checkbox on the same form. It is unchecked by default, and registration and full use of the service succeed with it left unchecked. The checkbox reads:
Shown as it appears on the registration form — unchecked by default; the user must actively check it to consent.
Opt-in method 2: SMS keyword YES
The YES keyword is offered only to users who have already registered and verified their number via the web form above but left the proactive checkbox unchecked. After verification, Clara sends a welcome message containing the call to action; replying YES enables proactive messages and triggers a confirmation stating message frequency, that message and data rates may apply, and how to opt out. This is the exchange, verbatim:
Clara · SMS
Welcome to Clara! 🤖 I'm your AI, right here in your texts. Ask me anything. Want a daily briefing and task reminders too? Reply YES to opt in. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.
YES
You're set! Clara will now send your daily briefing, task reminders, and important alerts (typically 1–3 msgs/day). Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe anytime.
Actual message text sent by Clara.
Opting out & help
Reply STOP (or STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT) to any Clara text to stop all messages. Clara sends one confirmation and then goes silent:
“You've been unsubscribed from Clara. Text START to resume anytime.”
Reply HELP or INFO at any time for assistance:
“Clara: your AI assistant over SMS. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Support: support@a3v01d.com. Reply STOP to opt out.”
Signed-in users can also turn proactive texts on or off in their account Settings (login required). Replying STOP — or the instructions on this page — are the opt-out paths that require no login.
